Activ8me Excited to Rollout nbn and Amazon Project Kuiper LEO Partnership

As a leading provider of nbn® satellite services, Activ8me will be at the forefront of bringing the upcoming nbn LEO services to Aussie households.

Activ8me is thrilled to be part of the exciting news that could transform satellite internet for regional, rural, and remote Australians: nbn has teamed up with Amazon’s Project Kuiper to deliver next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite broadband.

A Major Step Forward for Regional Connectivity

Under a new eight-year agreement, nbn and service providers like Activ8me will use Project Kuiper’s LEO satellite network to replace the aging Sky Muster® services.

This advanced technology will gradually replace the existing nbn Sky Muster geostationary satellites, with the transition starting in mid-2026.

As a leading Sky Muster internet service provider, Activ8me welcomes this development and is eager to work closely with nbn to bring these benefits to our customers.

Acitv8me has been at the forefront of testing and launching new satellite technologies in conjunction with nbn before, including the initial trials and rollout of Sky Muster services in 2016, as well as the launch of fully unmetered Sky Muster Plus trials in 2023.

We’re excited to be involved in revolutionising remote Australian connectivity once again.

Why This Matters for Activ8me Customers

LEO satellites orbit much closer to Earth than GEO satellites like Sky Muster, reducing latency and allowing for faster internet.

This means smoother video streaming, better video calls, quicker uploads and a better overall online experience for people living in remote Australia.

Key details from the Announcement:

  • Current Sky Muster services will remain in place until every customer is successfully migrated.
  • Project Kuiper will launch around 3,200 satellites globally, though only a portion are needed for Australian coverage.
  • Professional installation and equipment will be provided at no cost to existing Sky Muster customers.
  • Maintenance, repairs, and installations will continue via nbn’s national technician network.
  • Migration will be free and fully supported, with self-install options being explored for eligible homes.
  • Initially, in a trial rollout, existing Sky Muster customers will have the chance to trial the LEO service alongside their existing Sky Muster service.

What’s Still to Come?

Pricing, terms and speed tiers are still under consultation, but Activ8me will keep customers updated every step of the way.

“This partnership marks a new leap for rural and remote internet in Australia,” says Martin Camilleri, CEO of Activ8me. “It has the potential to deliver dramatically faster, more reliable service to the communities we serve. Bringing metro-comparable services to remote Australians has always been our mission, and this is a major step towards that goal.”

We’re committed to ensuring a smooth migration and helping our customers get the most from this new technology.
