NBN Expanding Technical Team to Support Sky Muster Improvements

The National Broadband Network (nbn®) switched off the Interim Satellite Service (ISS) in late February and advised subscribers to transition to the Sky Muster® satellite service. In order to support the larger system with the newly migrated customers, the nbn® have begun expanding the Sky Muster® support team with a goal of delivering a consistent service performance.
Reported by Channel News, the nbn® plans to hire 10 new engineers and a number of “solution architects” to further improve the Sky Muster® service. The newly expanded service team is expected to:

“reduce the number of incidences exceeding threshold by active monitoring and management of network capacity against KPI threshold for systems”.

Responding to service performance questions raised, nbn® CEO Bill Morrow stated that the company is aware of reported issues with the Sky Muster® satellite and further added the timeline to fix service backlogs across Australia could take up to a year.
Several publications that highlighted the performance of the Sky Muster® satellite service referred to an nbn® issued “software” upgrade to patch up software bugs from pre and post launch of the two satellites.
The Sky Muster® satellite service is fully operational with the two satellites in orbit now working in concert to deliver a much improved satellite internet for rural, regional and remote Australia. The service is available commercially through sky muster plans from nbn® retail service providers.
