NBN To Turn Off ISS This Month
February 1, 2017 10:38 am
The nbn® are aiming to move over 18,000 subscribers from the Interim Satellite Service (ISS) to Sky Muster® or Fixed Wireless this month.
The nbn® launched its second Sky Muster® satellite last October, and are due to shut down the ISS at the end of February. This means those still connected who are eligible for fixed wireless or Sky Muster® services should transition quickly.
“Where fixed-wireless is currently available, resources are in place with nbn®‘s delivery partners to ensure installation for those eligible ahead of the ISS switch-off. Where fixed-wireless services are planned but not yet available, end users will be able to migrate to Sky Muster® […] before connecting to fixed-wireless when it becomes available.”

With the shut down of the ISS, customers will be moved to the faster and more reliable nbn® services now available in the market. These include Sky Muster® and nbn® fixed wireless plans available from providers such as Activ8me.
What is nbn® Fixed Wireless?
Fixed Wireless is a new broadband technology offering faster and more reliable internet. With speeds up to 25Mbps, the service is quicker than standard ADSL and ISS internet services.
Fixed Wireless is being offered in regional areas under the nbn® Wireless Service Area footprint class. A small antenna is installed on the premises, and picks up a signal from a wireless tower.
What is nbn® Sky Muster® Satellite?
The new Sky Muster® satellite is the nbn’s long term replacement of previous satellite services. Sky Muster® also provides a faster internet solution than 3G/4G mobile.
