NBN in talks with Port Stephens Council for fixed wireless installation
November 20, 2014 9:56 pmAnother 13 regional councils across NSW are set to receive fast broadband, including Port Stephens Council after an announcement from NBN Co in the past week.
NBN Co spokesman Tony Gibbs said NBN will begin talks of fixed wireless services installation with Port Stephens Council and will begin the consultation process with the community. The council will have access to NBN equipment that would enable them to use the wireless service.
The exact number of fixed wireless facilities as well as their specific locations have not been finalised.
The fixed wireless network will be able to achieve 25 megabits per second download speeds, and five megabits per second upload speeds. It is designed to support areas across Australia that are less densely populated.
Earlier last week, it was announced by Paterson MP Bob Baldwin that Dungog, Woodville South, and Woodville would also have access to the NBN and receive fast broadband via NBN fixed wireless broadband services.
