Broadband Minister Stephen Conroy made the announcement of NBN access at Bunya Estate Minister who mentioned that it is the first new broad-acre development to get the NBN.

“Local residents in the Bunya estate can receive fibre-based telephone and high speed internet services over the NBN by contacting a retail service provider of their choice. It will be the first of many such sites and our local community is very excited,” says Ed Husic, Chifley MP.

Housing Affordability Fund worth $7.5 million was granted by the federal government to support more affordable homes in this estate.

Before the announcement of Bunya Estate, the township of Minnamurra and Kiama Downs was connected last August.

Other areas that were first connected to receive access to NBN are the whole Tasmania, Armidale in NSW, parts of Brunswick in Melbourne and parts of the Twonsville suburbs of Aitkenvale and Mundingbura.

The outer suburb of Tasmania which is the Midway Point, was the first location that enjoyed the high speed NBN connection in August last year.
