Imagine seeing a new world without leaving the comforts of home.
Virtual reality (VR) has rolled out in the gaming industry to give out an all-out immersive experience for gamers. Fortunately, with innovation and research, virtual reality is not exclusively for entertainment anymore, and has expanded into applied industries.
Australian businesses are beginning to ride the bandwagon, incorporating virtual reality in their products and services for an enhanced, immersive customer experience.
Telsyte’s Australian VR & AR Market Study 2017 released data revealing 25.5 per cent of Aussies are predicted to own their own virtual reality headset by 2021, opening the door of a lucrative market and opportunities to local businesses.
More than half of the small and medium businesses in Australia are coming up with a strategy or have already established how to incorporate virtual reality in different industries. The known early adapters are healthcare, transport, and retail.

“Over the next decade, Virtual and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies will create opportunities for small and medium size businesses to interact with their customers in new immersive ways.
Many organisations are investigating VR and AR applications to help transform their businesses much like mobile apps and websites did over the past decade.”

Telsyte Managing Director, Foad Fadaghi  via Australian Anthill.

The study explained how Aussies will use virtual reality in their lives. The retail sector has the lead with 45% of businesses already coming up with a strategy thanks to the rise of immersive shopping experiences. Second is the health sector due to rapid advancements in telemedicine.
Lastly, 31% of transport and storage businesses are coming up with ways to incorporate virtual reality to improve their occupational health and safety training.

We’re already seeing examples of innovative businesses developing immersive and high-bandwidth VR experiences outside of gaming to tap into new industries such as healthcare, retail and real estate. The research shows we will continue to see growth in these sectors as more Australian businesses consider a VR strategy to reach their customers in the coming years,”

Ben Salmon, nbn’s Head of Business, Products and Services,

An increase in the roll-out of the network was recently announced by the nbn and will target areas such as inner-city Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. There is also a prediction that one out of three businesses in Australia will connect to the nbn® network as the roll-out becomes complete in 2020.
As virtual reality is recognised as able to be incorporated in different sectors there will be a need for faster speeds and higher data allocation. With speeds up to 100 mbps, nbn fibre plans are one of the recommended connections to experience seamless immersion in delivering VR over internet business portals.
Fast nbn® broadband Internet provides countless benefits for Australians.  Activ8me can provide you with the right advice to connect you to the nbn®. To check availability, go to our homepage www.activ8me.net.au or speak to our Australian staff on 13 22 88.
