Indigenous Engagement and Employment

Activ8me acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community.
We pay our respect to their Elders both past and present.

Activ8me is Australia’s largest provider of satellite internet and community Wi-Fi in remote Indigenous communities.
Through our involvement with the Remote Community Telecommunications program over the past 10 years, we have installed community Wi-Fi and community telephones in over 320 locations and support over 500 community telephones. We have established effective working relationships with Indigenous Communities, delivering on our engagement strategy, focussed on consultation and co-operation through fully understanding the communities specific requirements.

This breadth of exposure enables Activ8me to actively engage year-round with remote Indigenous communities across Australia in the planning, installation and maintenance of telecommunication services.
Activ8me teams travel over 150,000 kilometres per year and spend over 200 days in Indigenous Communities. We are committed to improving telecommunications for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our Indigenous Employment and Supplier Use Plan aims to increase our engagement for remote telecommunication services by promoting cultural awareness, increasing Indigenous employment opportunities, and building effective service relationships with local community and business representatives.

Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to gain qualifications and participate in professional development opportunities is a key focus of our strategy. With this in mind we are committed to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and are continually looking to hire. All enquiries please contact us via email: corporatesales@apn.net.au

During 2019, Activ8me worked with the Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation (PTAC) to provide the Tjuntjuntjara and Ilkurlka Communities in remote Western Australia with internal and external Wi-Fi coverage, including VOIP telephones, for 58 building and social areas throughout both communities.

Children’s use of the free Community phones was instant, feedback from the school principal was that children were sharing their phone extension numbers at school and calling each other as soon as their phone had been installed at home.
