  • Hoax Emails to Customers

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

Recently there has been a hoax email sent to Activ8me customers stating they have a virus on their email database. It asks you to click on a link and then log into your account to fix the virus. DO NOT click this link.

Usually hoax emails say that your email account is about to be suspended, has a virus or something similar.

They may ask for your User ID and password or ask you to click on a link.
Sometimes they even ask for your Date of Birth or other personal details.

These emails are ALWAYS fake. Activ8me will never email you asking for your username and password.

  • NEVER respond to such emails.

Do not even respond to “remove” or "unsubscribe" your address from their mailing list. A response confirms that your email address is active and may result in more junk mail.

  • NEVER give out your PASSWORD.
  • NEVER open email attachments, click on links or web addresses from unknown senders.

By doing so, your PC could be infected with software that can steal private data or use your PC to send spam to others.

DELETE these messages, if possible without opening.

Then delete them from your Deleted items folder.

This is a global problem and affects all service providers and all customers.

Activ8me has security systems in place to protect you.

If you are ever in doubt, phone the Activ8me Customer Care Centre on 1300 760 219.

Tip: If your personal details and/or bank details need to be updated, please login to our secure online member area 'My Account'  with your user ID and password.

And, remember DO NOT give your password out to anyone.
