Tuesday, 27 September 2011

Australian broadband company Activ8me announces their approval as a retail service provider for NBN Satellite Services.

Activ8me, an Australian broadband company that provides wireless internet plans, National Broadband Network satellite plans and Satellite phone services to Australians in Outback locations is approved as a retail provider for NBN Satellite. This includes NBN Co’s fast new Interim Satellite Services.

Activ8me’s approval for the program was announced on July 15th, 2011. First priority to enter the Interim Satellite Program is currently given to customers who have no alternate access to broadband services. As of November 1, 2011 some existing customers that were connected more than 3 years ago may also be eligible to upgrade to the new NBN Interim Service provided they meet NBN Co’s eligibility requirements. The Interim Satellite Program is designed to provide NBN Satellite Service to the 7% of Australians who will not be served by NBN Co’s standard fibre network that is planned to cover the majority of the Australian population. The Interim Satellite Service Program is designed to run from July 2011 until 2015 when NBN Co. intends to launch two new satellites to provide a long-term service to Australians in remote locations.

Existing Customers Can Sign Up for NBN Co’s New Interim Satellite Service

Current customers who are receiving satellite services through Activ8me will not notice any changes to their broadband services. This includes customers who previously signed up under the ABG or HIBIS Australian government subsidy programs. Activ8me’s Satellite Services will continue without interruptions or changes for current customers.

New and current customers who are interested in signing up for NBN Satellite can check eligibility requirements and register with the program by phoning NBN Co directly on phone 1-800-881-816 (8:30 am- 5pm weekdays AEST) or online at http://bcoms.dbcde.gov.au/NBNBSL . To sign-up with Activ8me or for existing customers to upgrade their plans they will also need to register their interest with Activ8me by phoning 1-800-804-410.

Activ8me has no control over eligibility or entrance into the new program. The new Interim Satellite Service is limited at this time and all eligible customers will gradually be accepted by NBN Co into the program. Additional Information is available through Activ8me or NBN.
