Install Helps The Local Kids

Activ8me have been installing phones in remote Australia to help communities keep in contact with the outside world and help break down the isolation barrier experienced by those living in such remote locations. These areas have no mobile coverage and land lines are non-existent so these solar powered satellite public phones are a very welcome addition to Indigenous communities.
One such install on Kangaroo Island proved very challenging due to its location but the locals provided invaluable assistance. It was a good indication the community wanted the phone because they provided boat transfers, labour to help dig a foundation to secure the phone and storage for the equipment.
Mabunji was one of the helpful parties involved with the install. They are a resource centre to service the Indigenous peoples and their homelands of the Borroloola region. Mabunji is located in the main town of Borroloola and employs over 300 Indigenous people on a CDEP Government funded scheme. The centre is also responsible for a lot of town based facilities such as the local crèche.
In appreciation for help of the community with the installation Activ8me made a donation of $5,000 to the local crèche in Borroloola who were very grateful for the contribution.
The kids will get a new sandpit and some new outdoor play equipment to replace the damaged equipment and the crèche installed a new alarm system to replace the outdated one previously installed along with some outdoor security sensor lights.
This small contribution made a world of difference to the crèche and the children who spend their days there.
